10 handy tips on enhancing your fertility.

1. Plan for children early and avoid delaying unnecessarily as each of us possess a Fertility period (the physiology of ovulation). The later the conception, the higher the risks of complications and difficulties in conception.

2. If you are over 30 years old and have been trying to conceive for the past 6 months or longer OR are under 30 years old and have been trying for 1 year or more, consult your doctor immediately.

3. Chart your temperature and observe your reproductive biomarkers such as cervical mucus may help women to identify the fertile period.

4. Stress can affect fertility. De-stressing programs can help. You can also seek psychological support or counselling to reduce stress.

5. Allow yourself and your spouse some private time.

6. Lifestyle habits such as smoking, excessive drinking and drug addiction can affect fertility. These can inhibit sexual desires, can cause foetal abnormalities and miscarriages.

7. The need to have a good balance diet and regular exercise.

8. Make a date to have sex with your spouse for fun during the fertile times of the cycle.

9. Wear loose underwear and cold showers may help to improve sperm quality.

10. Other endocrine disease such as diabetes, thyroid diseases will affect fertility.
