Want to do your part for charity but need more information?

With so much good work going on in the community, understanding where to donate your money can be a challenge.

Here are a few simple steps to help you contribute easily:

First, organisations like the National Council of Social Services (NCSS) and the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) are good sources for Tips on Giving - such as questions donors should ask before giving to any charitable organization. Check out these tips from NCSS and NVPC.

Then, once you have read all the tips on giving, you'll be ready to make your donation. There are a number of portals that make donating online very easy! Here are a few suggestions:

  • The Online Donation Portal, with its secured website, allows you to make your donation online with your credit card in minutes!
  • The Community Chest website allows you to donate specifically to the social services sector.
  • If you have used items which are too good to just throw it away, consider donating them. Just log on to Pass It On and they take over to match your donated goods to those who need them.

For general information about donations, visit NVPC's website.
