Marriage Preparation Programmes

We’re so in love and my spouse-to-be is wonderful. Do we still need to attend Marriage Preparation Programme?

The answer is YES! You will be surprise by how much you can learn about creating a lifelong marriage. Long-time married couples will tell you, "Strong marriages don't just happen, they are created!" Even the best-matched couples can benefit from learning how to build satisfying and committee marriages.

Marriage Preparation programmes enable soon-to-be married and newly-married couples to lay the foundation for their marriage, gain valuable insights into individual strengths and weaknesses and learn practical skills on topics ranging from sexual intimacy, financial management, to building a healthy relationship with the in-laws.

How does Marriage Preparation help me enjoy a better marriage?

You will find vital topics covered within programmes relevant to enhancing your married life.  These topics include marital commitment, personality differences, communication skills, mutual decision making, conflict management, finances, sex, family planning issues, roles and expectations.  You will experience fresh perspectives and acquire practical knowledge of enhancing your marriage, be it now or in the future.

Couples who have attended these programmes praised the experience as enriching and helpful in preparing them mentally and emotionally for a life together.

How do I know which programme is right for me?

It all depends on what your needs are, what you are most comfortable with and what is most convenient to your schedule. The Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, together with our partners, organises a wide variety of marriage preparation programmes, readily available at islandwide centres in both individual and group sessions.  Simply download "Marriage of a Lifetime" - a list of 2008 Marriage Preparation Courses.

How much does it cost?

The cost per couple ranges from $70 for a programme with two 4-hour group sessions to $350 for three one-to-one sessions.

Couples who successfully complete a Marriage Preparation Programme, supported by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) will normally receive a $70 rebate funded by MCYS.

How to I sign up?

It’s very simple.

Step 1:  Download "Marriage of a Lifetime" - a list of 2008 Marriage Preparation Courses or click here for a monthly listing of Marriage Preparation Courses or take part in marriage preparation easily online via http://mpq.singaporebrides.com.
