Now that you are married there are different considerations, filing procedures and incentives that exist for couples.

File Your Income Tax Return as a Couple

Once a couple is married only one tax form (Income Tax Form B/B1) is sent to the husband of the new couple. A separate income tax form is not issued to the married woman unless she specifically requests for one. Both husband and wife need to report their incomes in the same income tax form, unless the couple chooses to assess separately. Get more information at Inland Revenue Authority's website on the specifics of filing as a married couple.

Tax incentives - Marriage and Beyond

Singapore's tax laws are pro-family so there are reliefs and rebates available to help in supporting families in their formation and life together as well as filial piety for the extended family.

You may want to explore the tax incentives that exist relating to your new married life - these include:

Tax Relief for Married Couples - depending on your situation, there are incentives that exist whether you choose to be assessed separately or together.

Relief for Parents & Other Dependants - if you are living with your or your partner's parents, grandparents, or great grandparents, there are reliefs available to help with the maintenance of these dependants.

Child Relief - there are several tax options available to help with the support of your child. Find out the reliefs available and requirements.
