Reimbursement issues
Listed below are the important points for employers to take note for the Government-Paid Childcare Leave scheme :

Employers should verify the eligibility of the employee based on the Declaration Form (with documents attached) prior to granting childcare leave. Employers may also choose to use their existing IT system to capture the employee's information for verification of eligibility and for the employee to declare his/her eligibility. After the employer is satisfied that the employee meets all the criteria, he should proceed to the online enquiry system to check whether any claim for reimbursement had been made for the employee. |

Employees with adopted and/or stepchildren will also be eligible for childcare leave. |

The documents required are :
In addition to all the above documents, employees have to provide the following documents :
- Adoption Order (for adopted child) ;
- Court Order for finalization of divorce (for employees who are divorcees);
- Death certificate of spouse (for employees who are widows/widowers)
- Marriage certificate (for employee who is a spouse to a divorcee and step parent to the child) |

Declaration Form and accompanying documents must be kept for a period of 3 years for audit purpose. |

The first 3 days of childcare leave will be paid by the employer while the last 3 days will be paid by the Government. |
|

Employees who are not married and/or whose child is not a Singapore citizen at the point of the child’s birth will be eligible for childcare leave benefits from the point when all the criteria are met before the youngest child’s 7th birthday. |

During childcare leave, employer has to pay the employee as per normal as though he/she had been working without a break. |

Government reimbursement will be capped at 3 days per calendar year. Employers with leave year other than calendar may wish to adjust their leave period accordingly. |

Government reimbursement is calculated using the formula below: |

(MGP + ECPF) x 12 x No. of days of childcare leave taken (<=3) |
|
No. of working days in a week x 52 weeks |
|
MGP : monthly gross pay
ECPF : employer’s CPF contribution (14.5%) |

10 |
Employers have to submit the claim for reimbursement within 3 months after :
- the last day of childcare leave taken; or
- the end of the relevant leave period.
