School social work is social services provided in schools for students, teachers and school management. School social work is easily accessible to school-going children and youth as well as their families.

By being located in schools, it allows social workers to monitor the progress of students closely, and helps them in building a positive relationship with school personnel - so they are better able to identify youths that require help early, to stop the escalation of problems before they grow.

The objectives of school social work are to:

Help students who face difficulties in their developmental process and/or in adjusting to school life

Co-ordinate and influence the efforts of the school, the family and community to help these students, when necessary.
